SYSTEM DESIGN APPROACH
Board Design
APK designs boards and MCM's with custom and non-custom hardware. Packaging is a key cost, performance, and manufacturability tradeoff. We prototype and work with vendors for manufacturing.
(Design areas include:Mechanical, Logic, Electrical, PCB, Prototype.)
FPGAs, ICs & ASICs
APK designs FPGAs, gate arrays, standard cell and custom chips. We have experience in analog, digital and mixed mode ICs and ASICs as large as 750K gates. Technologies include Bipolar, GaAs, and CMOS. We design Verilog, BHDL, logic and circuits. All of this is simulated, synthesized and done on a place and route layout, DRC, ERC, and LVS. The best IC foundry is used on all of the projects we complete. But as an IBM design center, we have special access to one of the world's best high performance large scale CMOS foundries.
Software
We design the software required to operate and test the system.
(Software strengths: Assembly, C, VHDL, Embedded, Test).
LabView
LabView programming and/or hardware integration for implementation of:
- Automated Test Systems
- Automated Quality Control and Inspection
- Automated Process Control
- Motion Based Systems
- Automated Data Acquisition and Analysis
- Other Automated Systems

Test
We test and characterize designs in our own fully equipped laboratory for Prototype Development, Assembly, Test, and Verification.
(Laboratory includes: In-circuit emulators, PROM programmers, logic, power, and spectrum analyzers).
