Board Design

APK designs boards and MCM's with custom and non-custom hardware. Packaging is a key cost, performance, and manufacturability tradeoff. We prototype and work with vendors for manufacturing.
(Design areas include:Mechanical, Logic, Electrical, PCB, Prototype.)

FPGAs, ICs & ASICs

APK designs FPGAs, gate arrays, standard cell and custom chips. We have experience in analog, digital and mixed mode ICs and ASICs as large as 750K gates.
Technologies include Bipolar, GaAs, and CMOS. We design Verilog, BHDL, logic and circuits. All of this is simulated, synthesized and done on a place and route layout, DRC, ERC, and LVS. The best IC foundry is used on all of the projects we complete. But as an IBM design center, we have special access to one of the world's best high performance large scale CMOS foundries.

Software

We design the software required to operate and test the system.
(Software strengths: Assembly, C, VHDL, Embedded, Test).

LabView

LabView programming and/or hardware integration for implementation of:

  • Automated Test Systems
  • Automated Quality Control and Inspection
  • Automated Process Control
  • Motion Based Systems
  • Automated Data Acquisition and Analysis
  • Other Automated Systems

Excellent familiarity with hardware and softwar allows us the flexibility to solve your application in an efficient and cost effective manner. We offer engineering support through complete turn-key solutions depending on your needs. For existing controls and systems we offer upgrades to modern standards

Test

We test and characterize designs in our own fully equipped laboratory for Prototype Development, Assembly, Test, and Verification.
(Laboratory includes: In-circuit emulators, PROM programmers, logic, power, and spectrum analyzers).

Approach
Formulate Architecture We work with the customer to design the overall system and partition it to meet cost and scheduling goals.
Generate Algorithms We generate algorithms and partitions necessary to perform the appropriate functions.
Write Specification We define the system for implementation.
Detailed Design We design the modules (analog, digital, software, mechanical monolithic, or discrete).
Simulate and Analyze We simulate the design with logic, Verilog, VHDL, SPICE, and many other simulators. We can also perform analysis on customer designs.
Prototype and Manufacturing The designs made here are for manufacturability. We can construct prototypes in-house or contract outside, as well as arrange manufacturing for entire units and assemblies.
Tests Our consultants are experts in LSSD and perform prototype testing at our in-house test facilites.
